Will Boxing legend Mike Tyson make his come back late 2010?
Boxing legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KO’s), is reportedly ready to make his come back in the ring some time later this year. Tyson has teamed up once again with flamboyant promoter Don King to get is career back in the spotlight. What Tyson was hoping for, was to avoid any kind of controversy that could hinder the date or distract from the main focus, Tyson himself.
Well, guess what, when you hear of a breaking story on TMZ, it ain’t good.
An associate of Don King is under police investigation for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at the boxing promoter’s home in Florida.
The associate — 36-year-old Craig Jones — was questioned by Lantana police after a 13-year-old girl told cops Jones picked her up off the street, drove her to Don King’s home and raped her on the night of February 11.
Shortly after the alleged incident, cops questioned Jones — who denied raping the girl. But according to the police report, the guy “changed his story” during questioning.
Cops took the alleged victim to undergo a medical exam — which showed that she had recently engaged in sexual activity.
According to the report, Jones told cops he was arrested for allegedly raping a minor roughly 10 years ago — but pled out to a lesser charge.
Don King has not been accused of any wrongdoing and no charges have been filed against him.
Mike Tyson, has been out of the ring since an embarrassing sixth round TKO loss to Kevin McBride in 2005. Prior to that defeat, he was stopped by Danny Williams and a couple fights before that, he was demolished by Lennox Lewis. Tyson surely wanted to revamp his image in and out of the ring and this little twist with Jones was the exact opposite attraction Tyson wanted to receive. Mainly because Jones was working with Tyson and King, planning the comeback tour. His removal from the plan may mean that the comeback tour pushes back to the beginning of 2011.
According to a source close to Tyson, former Promoter Don King was to have a tentative deal for Tyson to return to the ring in late 2010. The rumored initial plan is to have Tyson-Holyfield III. But there is also a plan B, just incase that falls through.
Mike Tyson’s comeback, which is now confirmed, will most likely be against a top 40 heavyweight. If we see a more focused and fit Tyson, we might also see him make it back to the top.
